WHAT ARE COOKIES?

Cookies are small files installed on the hard disk or in the browser of a computer, tablet, smartphone or equivalent device with Internet browsing functions. WHAT KIND OF COOKIES ARE THERE?

According to the entity by which they are managed:

Proprietary cookies: those sent to the user’s terminal equipment from a computer or domain controlled by the publisher itself and from which the service requested by the user is provided.

Third-party cookies: those sent to the user’s terminal from a computer or domain not controlled by the publisher, but rather by another entity that processes the data obtained via the cookies.

Depending on how long they remain activated on the terminal equipment:

Session cookies: cookies designed to collect and store data while the user is accessing a website.

Persistent cookies: cookies in which the data remains stored on the terminal and can be accessed and processed for a period defined by the person responsible for the cookie, which can range from a few minutes to several years.

Depending on the purpose for which the data obtained through cookies is processed:

Technical cookies: cookies that allow users to browse a website, platform or application and use the different options or services they offer, such as controlling data traffic and communication, identifying the session, accessing restricted-access areas, remembering the items that make up an order, performing the purchase process of an order, making the application for registration or participation in an event, using security elements during browsing, storing content for the reproduction of videos or sound or sharing content through social media.

Personalisation cookies: cookies that let users access the service with a number of predefined general characteristics depending on criteria in the user’s terminal, such as the language, type of browser used to access the service and regional configuration from which the service is accessed, etc.

Analysis cookies: cookies that let the person responsible for them monitor and analyse how users of the websites to which they are linked behave.The information collected through this type of cookie is used to measure website, application or platform activity and draw up browsing profiles for users of such websites, applications and platforms to make improvements based on analyses of data on how the service is used.

Advertising cookies: cookies that enable the most efficient management of the advertising spaces the publisher has included on a web site, application or platform from which it provides the service requested on the basis of criteria such as the content published or the frequency with which the advertisements are shown.

Behavioural advertising cookies: cookies that enable the most efficient management of the advertising spaces the publisher has included on a web site, application or platform from which it provides the service requested. These cookies store information about users’ behaviour obtained through continuous observation of their browsing habits, enabling the development of a specific profile to display behavioural advertising.
